VB Spine to Acquire Intraoperative Visualization Platform From Robotron Surgical Technologies

January 15, 2026 By SPINEMarketGroup

New York, NY and Miami, FL, January 15, 2026 – VB Spine LLC (“VB Spine”) today announced an agreement to acquire the SpineHawk™ platform from Robotron Surgical Technologies, expanding VB Spine’s portfolio with intraoperative spinal visualization and a software roadmap intended to support technology-enabled spine care. Robotron Surgical Technologies, a developer of advanced spinal endoscopy surgical systems, originated the SpineHawk platform as part of its broader work in AI-powered visualization.

The acquisition includes Robotron’s single-use visualization-enabled spinal instruments, software-enabled intraoperative image recognition technology, and related intellectual property. Drawing on Robotron’s spinal endoscopy heritage, the platform is designed to integrate into established spine workflows and support direct intraoperative visualization during key steps of a procedure.

VB Spine expects the initial SpineHawk offering to include visualization-enabled instruments and a high-definition camera console, with targeted sales in 2026 following FDA clearance. In future phases, VB Spine intends to advance AI-enabled software capabilities, including image analysis designed to assist surgeons by identifying relevant anatomical structures in the surgical field. Robotron’s technology, designed to be compatible with standard operating room monitors, applies machine-learning-based image recognition to intraoperative video streams, enabling contextual interpretation of spinal anatomy in real time.

“This acquisition aligns with our strategy to expand VB Spine’s portfolio with differentiated technologies that support surgeons in the operating room,” said Marc Viscogliosi, Co-CEO of VB Spine. “The SpineHawk platform complements our existing spine solutions and supports our long-term roadmap to redefine spine care.”

“We developed the SpineHawk platform to move beyond passive visualization toward intelligent, data-assisted spine surgery,” said Dr. Kris Siemionow, MD, PhD, CEO of Robotron Surgical Technologies. “VB Spine is well positioned to advance this technology within a broader commercial spine portfolio.”

Following the transaction, VB Spine will assume ownership of the acquired assets and intellectual property. Robotron Surgical Technologies will support VB Spine with a team of experienced engineers to expand the SpineHawk platform and broaden VB Spine’s capabilities across workflow, software, and adjacent product categories over time.

Regulatory and Availability

SpineHawk™ is currently not available for sale. VB Spine expects to submit a 510(k) to the U.S. FDA in the first half of 2026; any clearance timing is subject to FDA review.
