ZygoFix

October 17, 2014 By SPINEMarketGroup

ZygoFix has developed a unique implant to achieve spinal fusion in the most minimally invasive approach and without using screws. The stabilization is achieved by inserting the implant in the spinal segment’s facet joints. Stabilizing the spinal segment via the facet joints allows to minimize the invasiveness to 1 access point instead of 3 with pedicle screws (per side, 6 for bi-lateral). Inserting an implant to the facet joint is a challenging task as its geometry is different in every case and can include a bigger or smaller curve. ZygoFIx’s zLOCK 3D printed implant is capable of changing its shape to the specific joint geometry as it is inserted into it. Its design locks the joint’s motion and provides the required stabilization. The company’s zLOCK system is currently in clinical stage.http://www.zygofix.com
