Xia®3 Spinal System.SUK®Direct Vertebral Rotation (DVR) System

April 14, 2018 By SPINEMarketGroup

Xia 3 Spinal System is a comprehensive system designed to treat modern spinal deformity and deliver “Simplicity with Options.” The Xia 3 implants and instruments have been developed to meet and address the challenges spine surgeons face in treating complex deformities. The Xia 3 SUK Direct Vertebral Rotation (DVR) System utilizes the power of pedicle screw fixation and provides surgeons a three dimensional approach to correcting deformity. This Surgical Technique outlines the use of the Xia 3 SUK DVR System to perform Segmental as well as En Bloc vertebral body derotation maneuvers.

Features:

Xia 3 Polyaxial Screw

  • Xia Buttress Thread Blocker:With over a decade of consistent performance, the Xia buttress thread blocker helps to eliminate crossthreading, prevent screw head splaying, and ensure secure closure.
  • Xia Bone Screw Thread Pattern:Based on patient anatomy, the Xia bone screw thread pattern is designed to increase performance and purchase in cortical and cancellous vertebral bone by featuring a constant outer and tapered inner diameter.
  • Self Tapping Screws:Xia 3 Screws have a cutting flute to allow a surgeon to eliminate the tapping step. The screws may be inserted immediately after preparing and probing the pedicle. However, in most cases, tapping is recommended. In addition, Xia 3 Screws, like the entire Xia family, have a tip angle of 60°, which is designed to help ease
insertion.Xia 3 Screws are fully anodized by screw diameter for easier identification in the OR.

Rod Options:Xia 3 screws can accommodate a variety of rod diameters and materials: 5.5mm and 6.0mm diameter in Commercially Pure Titanium, Titanium Alloy, and Vitallium.

About Spinal Deformity

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that can occur in any age group. Scoliosis is a coronal plane (i.e. side to side) deformity occurring in children, adolescents, and adults. Symptoms vary with age of onset and severity of the curvature; cosmetic problems including sitting imbalance, breathing difficulty or delayed development is common findings in infants and young children. A rib hump, pelvic or shoulder height imbalance tend to common in the adolescent group. Intractable back pain, sciatica, leg weakness or numbness and gait difficulty are common reasons for surgical correction in adults.

Kyphosis is seen when a person’s spinal balance has moved too far forward to allow the spine to effectively carry the body weight without progressive deformity, pain or neurologic loss of function. Patients typically walk in a forward flexed posture being unable to stand up straight. This condition can also occur along with scoliosis causing Kyphoscoliosis.
