VERTICALE is a posterior double rod fixation system for stabilising the thoracic and lumbar spine. In both open and minimally invasive use, VERTICALE allows degenerative spinal diseases to be stabilised in a controlled manner and deformities to be corrected conveniently.During development we placed special emphasis on ergonomics, modularity and clarity of the system. Bi-functional 2-in-1 instruments and modular handle options for the instruments support surgeons in their work, while individually customisable screw trays facilitate daily handling of the system and can save considerable space in the operating theatre.
The system was developed in close cooperation with experienced and qualified spinal surgeons as well as specialist staff from theatre and sterilisation departments. With its polyaxial and reduction screws, whether solid or cannulated and fenestrated, combined with 5.5 mm titanium or cobalt chrome rods, VERTICALE is suitable for a wide range of indications.
Features:
- Poliaxial Screws:The high angulation of the VERTICALE polyaxial screw head with 52° makes it easier to adapt the other system components to the patient’s individual anatomy.
- Rod Connectors: VERTICALE rods with decagonal ends can be rotated much more easily with the Verticale Rod Rotation Wrench by the user than rods with hexagonal ends. The decagonal end also makes it easier to insert the rod in the best position for correcting deformities as precisely as possible. A wide range of implant devices, rods made of Ti and CoCr alloys, cross connectors and rod extensions, guarantee that the system can be adapted to your patient’s specific anatomy.
About Spinal Deformity
Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that can occur in any age group. Scoliosis is a coronal plane (i.e. side to side) deformity occurring in children, adolescents, and adults. Symptoms vary with age of onset and severity of the curvature; cosmetic problems including sitting imbalance, breathing difficulty or delayed development is common findings in infants and young children. A rib hump, pelvic or shoulder height imbalance tend to common in the adolescent group. Intractable back pain, sciatica, leg weakness or numbness and gait difficulty are common reasons for surgical correction in adults.
Kyphosis is seen when a person’s spinal balance has moved too far forward to allow the spine to effectively carry the body weight without progressive deformity, pain or neurologic loss of function. Patients typically walk in a forward flexed posture being unable to stand up straight. This condition can also occur along with scoliosis causing Kyphoscoliosis.
