The Mako Spine system by Stryker is an advanced robotic-arm-assisted technology designed to enhance precision and control in spinal surgeries. Building upon the success of over 1.5 million Mako hip and knee procedures worldwide, Mako Spine integrates seamlessly with operating room technologies to streamline imaging, planning, and execution.
Key Features:
- AccuStop™ Haptic Technology: Provides tactile feedback to help surgeons maintain alignment within pre-planned trajectories, enhancing stability during pedicle preparation and screw placement.
- Simplified Planning: Utilizes Smart Segmentation to automatically identify and label vertebrae, offering algorithm-driven suggestions for screw size and trajectory, which can be customized and confirmed by the surgeon. This aims to reduce errors and improve surgical outcomes.
- Copilot Smart Driver: Assists in precise screw placement by automatically stopping at the pre-planned depth, supporting accuracy during pedicle preparation.
Currently in a limited market release, Mako Spine is expected to have a full U.S. commercial launch in the second half of 2025.
