Low Torque PSS

October 12, 2013 By SPINEMarketGroup

The Altus Spine Pedicle Screw system’s low torque design fully locks at 65 in-lbs. which is nearly half of the torque required by most of the competitive designs. This fosters greatest tactile feedback and surgeon finesse when it matters most. As a result of its unique locking cap, tulip design and closure mechanism, the system is more suitably designed to address sub-optimal and compromised bone
quality, as typically seen with osteoporotic patients. This expanded capability is also enhanced through the pedicle screw’s thread form which optimizes the bone screw interface and related pullout strength.

With the introduction of the PSS Cannulated Pedicle Screw and instrumentation, the surgeon is provided additional versatility to chose from an open, mini-open or MIS procedure all within a single system.

Features:

  • Evolutionary Low Torque Threadless Locking Design
  • Efficient threadless, low torque locking cap design
  • Threadless initial locking – one-quarter turn, no torque initial lock
  • Final locking secured at 65 in-lbs minimizing forces applied to anatomy and provides benchmark tactile feedback
  • Prevents cross-threading, splaying and false locking

Low Profile Construct & Insertion Devices

  • Allows up to 84º of angulation
  • Rounded tulip underside for optimal bone graft placement
  • Stable screw-inserter coupling for ideal control during insertionSimplified Instrumentation & System
  • Surgical procedure can be performed with as few as 5 system specific instruments
  • All implants and instruments within a single tray configuration
