The case began in 2021, when Globus filed a lawsuit alleging that Life Spine’s ProLift® product line infringed certain Globus patents. During the proceedings, Life Spine challenged the patentability of several asserted patents. In 2024, the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board cancelled all claims from four patents that Globus had asserted against Life Spine.
The remaining claims proceeded to a jury trial in August 2025 before the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. According to Life Spine, the jury rejected Globus’s infringement claims on one of the two remaining patents. The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has now issued an opinion holding that Globus’s remaining infringement claims were based on an invalid patent.
As a result, Life Spine states that it has successfully resolved all patent infringement claims asserted by Globus in this matter.
