Karlton Spindle Secures Taiwan Patent for Navigated Jamshidi Needle System

January 17, 2025 By SPINEMarketGroup

Karlton Spindle (NavJam LLC) and Ruthless Spine’s RJB co Inventor is proud to announce the allowance of its Taiwan Patent Application No.109134971, for its state-of-the-art Navigated Jamshidi Needle System—a technology designed as an aid for surgical procedures to measure angular orientation. The Taiwan patent will be issued on February 1, 2025. This milestone establishes the company’s position at the forefront of surgical innovation collaboration that empower surgeons in spine surgery.

A Vision Realized: A Milestone in Surgical Innovation

The Navigated Jamshidi Needle System called the MVP7 is truly a game-changer in spinal surgery, measuring angular orientation during procedures. Seamlessly integrated into Ruthless Spine’s proprietary and US-patented RJB System, this innovation aims to streamline complex workflows.

The Navigated Jamshidi Needle System reflects Ruthless Spine’s mission of bringing “zen” back to spine surgery in the OR—to surgeons and patients alike. With inventor Karlton Spindle working with Ruthless Spine, the Taiwan Patent Application, No. 109134971, was filed on October 8, 2020, with priority claims dating back to a U.S. filing on October 8, 2019. The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office allowed this patent application on November 11, 2024.

Innovation That Transforms the OR

The Navigated Jamshidi Needle System MVP7 is engineered to work in aligned synergy with the RJB System, Ruthless Spine’s flagship surgical tool.

The RJB System for Lumbosacral Surgery

The RJB system is an Intraoperative Surgical Angle Measurement tool targeted for improving ease, efficiency and cost-effectiveness in procedures for lumbosacral pedicle screw placements. The RJB device can measure the axial and sagittal angles of the instrument relative to gravity. The RJB system only provides measurements for angles in two planes relative to the vertical gravitational plumb line. For more information, please visit the complete RJB IFU Page.

By securing this Taiwan patent, Ruthless Spine further establishes its dominance in intraoperative surgical angle measurement tools, setting the stage for continued global expansion.

Unveiling the Future at CANS 2025

The Taiwan patent for the Navigated Jamshidi Needle System MVP7 will issue shortly after the California Association of Neurological Surgeons (CANS) 2025 Annual Meeting, held from January 17-19, 2025, at the Seascape Beach Resort in Aptos, California. Attendees will discover how Ruthless Spine is reshaping the OR with innovations that set new benchmarks in spine surgery.

Strategic Expansion: Gateway to the Asia-Pacific

The Taiwan patent represents a pivotal move in Ruthless Spine’s global strategy, positioning the company for growth in key international markets. Taiwan’s vibrant medtech ecosystem serves as a strategic entry point into the Asia-Pacific region, amplifying the reach and impact of the RJB System and Navigated Jamshidi Needle System MVP7.
