Seattle, WA — 10/30/25 — Proprio, the surgical technology company pioneering real-time, AI-powered surgical intelligence, today announced that medtech leader Dave Demski, former CEO of Globus Medical, has joined the company as a Senior Strategic Advisor.
Demski brings more than two decades of experience building one of the most successful platform companies in medtech. During his tenure at Globus, he helped guide the company from a start up to a diversified, publicly traded leader across implants, imaging, navigation, and robotics. He played a pivotal role in Globus’ early conviction to invest in robotics, years before the technology was widely proven, helping to establish robotics in spine surgery.
“Dave helped usher spine into the robotics era through disciplined strategy and platform integration,” said Gabriel Jones, CEO of Proprio. “The experience and perspective Dave has developed in the spine industry will be invaluable to Proprio as we embark on the commercial stage of our journey.”
Demski’s decision to join Proprio underscores a broader shift in surgical technology. While the first generation of robotics introduced integrated hardware into the operating room, the next generation will be led by software and data. Proprio’s Paradigm platform combines computer vision, light-field imaging, and artificial intelligence to give surgeons continuous 3D visualization, precise intraoperative alignment measurement, and automated data capture, turning surgery into a real-time, data-rich process.
In the first wave of surgical robotics, the goal was replication, using machines to imitate what surgeons could already do with other tools. Those systems advanced precision and enabled less invasive and more reproducible surgeries, but remain limited in their ability to impact outcomes. The next wave will be built by data-focused and AI-native companies capable of simulating, optimizing, and ultimately redefining entire procedures end-to-end. That shift will move surgery far beyond navigation tools and toward intelligent guidance and workflows that become the new standard of care.
“In early surgical robotics systems, the industry proved we could bring integrated hardware into the OR,” said Demski. “The job isn’t finished though. The next generation will be led by data and the systems that capture, analyze, and guide while surgery is happening. Proprio’s data-native approach and unique ability to capture intraoperative measurements are the right foundation for what comes next.”
Proprio is at an exciting inflection point, with growing adoption of its Paradigm system, multiple FDA clearances, and leading surgeons across the country validating its workflow benefits. The addition of Demski further strengthens Proprio’s ability to execute its vision of becoming the intelligence layer for surgery.
