This year’s EUROSPINE 2024 symposium in Vienna is now behind us. It was a significant event for specialists in spine surgery. The gathering provided an excellent opportunity for showcasing innovations and exchanging experiences among surgeons from various countries.
One of the program highlights was the presentation of the FJ-f intra-articular implant (Facet Joint Fusion; patent pending) by LfC. Another one in the family of 3D-printed 3D-Truss-Ti implants.
This implant is designed to stabilize the spine while incorporating advanced biomechanical techniques. Surgeons had the chance to participate in hands-on workshops, including sessions with anatomical specimens, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the clinical application of the implant.
During the conference, the technical features of the implant were showcased, including its organic TrabeQcell® structure and snail-like fixation system, both of which support the bone fusion process. These combined solutions generated significant interest among surgeons from over a dozen countries worldwide. The minimally invasive “Open Door” stabilization technique, developed for the treatment of facet joint arthritis and adjacent segment disease (ASD), drew particular interest from attendees.
The FJ-f implant was also discussed as a potential solution for patients suffering from conditions such as degenerative disc disease (DDD) and spinal canal stenosis. The biomechanical functionalities including intra-articular space distraction, immobilization of joint bone elements, and accelerated fusion was envisioned by the creators (Dr. L.F. Ciupik and Team). They also acknowledged its potential in replacing the overloaded 360° stabilization approach, which relies on interbody support and transpedicular screws.
Throughout the event, surgeons from various countries had the opportunity to engage with the LfC team, share their experiences, and delve into the technical details of spinal stabilization solutions.
