SERENGETI

May 12, 2015 By SPINEMarketGroup

SERENGETI Complex Spine features next generation instrumentation to perform complex reduction, controlled manipulation, and above-skin compression and distraction without compromising the option for direct visualization. The system provides the ability to attach and remove the Minimally Invasive Reduction Tunnels intraoperatively, combining the benefits of a traditional rigid system with the revolutionary benefits of the flexible, polymer SERENGETI Retractor.According to Steven M. DeLuca, DO, MS, orthopedic surgeon with the Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania, “Spinal surgery, from the simplest to the most complex procedures, is dynamic and can change mid-course. SERENGETI Complex Spine allows for on-the-spot decision making, providing surgeons the option to attach or remove the Reduction Tunnels in-situ.”

  • Flexible Design Simplifying Multi-Level and L5-S1 Rod Insertion
  • One-Step, Percutaneous Delivery of the Screw and Retractor Reducing Set-up Time
  • Screw-Based Retractor Design Providing a Secure Method of Retraction
  • Minimally Invasive Technique Reducing Potential for Musculature and Vascular Disruption
  • Polymer Retractor Design Allowing for Neuromonitoring During Screw Insertion

About MIS

The trend in spine surgery for many procedures has been moving toward minimally invasive approaches. These include spine surgery for lumbar fusion, deformity surgery, cervical surgery and sacroiliac joint fusion. The benefits of minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS) include decreased pain, less blood loss, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery. However, there is a difficult learning curve for surgeons when mastering MIS procedures. Increasing familiarity with MIS techniques creates more options for surgeons treating spine conditions with the potential to decrease surgical complications. The goal of this conference is to update neurological and orthopedic surgeons, as well as allied health professionals on the latest advances in MIS surgical techniques.
