The Opticage™ provides surgeons an FDA cleared and CE approved intervertebral fusion cage that can be custom fit to the patient anatomy as it is adjustable within its working range.
DePuy Synthes Products, Inc., part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, announced on January 3, 2017 an asset purchase and development agreement with Interventional Spine, Inc., a privately held manufacturer of expandable cage and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) technologies for spinal fusion. With Interventional Spine’s technology, DePuy Synthes adds a family of expandable cages, which are used in spinal fusion surgery to restore the natural disc height, to the company’s core spine platform. Interventional Spine’s expandable cage technology provides optimal tactile feedback for the surgeon, and features a continuously adjustable design that allows the surgeon to customize the device height to the patient’s anatomy.
Benefits:
- All titanium design allows for better osseointegration compared to PEEK
- Adjustable height from 9mm to 14mm available now. Upon clearance from the FDA, a 6.5mm to 12mm height
- Minimized insertion height provides ease of entry and may decrease risk of damage to vertebral endplates
- Larger graft window compared to other expandable cages on the market
- Superior torsional strength
- Superior expansion strength
- Convex endplates and controlled expansion deliver a precise anatomical fit
- Immediate increase in disc height, indirect decompression
- Allows immediate stability
- Can be retracted and repositioned, providing intraoperative flexibility
- Specially designed teeth for enhanced endplate purchase
- Utilizing the 11.5mm Optiport access instrumentation, you also have the power to perform your procedure percutaneously.
About Expandable Cages
Expandable interbody cages allow surgeons to go through a small corridor and change the geometry of the cage to correspond to what the patient’s spine requires. These implants may help protect a patient’s nerve roots and other structures in the area near the cage or along the corridor through which they are implanted. Sometimes can be implanted with a minimally invasive surgical procedure.
