Hygro-Cages consist of an additive manufactured honeycomb titanium structure with vertically and horizontally connected pores.
This structure showed prove of it´s suitability for spinal fusion in a clinical PMCF-study1 and therefore it can be concluded that cell transfusion into the cage structure is supported. The capillary effect due to the specifically designed pore dimensions2 guides bone growth to the outer and inner surfaces. The rough microstructure of the titanium surfaces can contribute to natural BMP production3, and can enable faster fusion.4
Features:
- Primary Stability
High primary stability achieved due to cranial and caudal teeth. - Rounded Edges
Rounded edges with a smooth surface ensures a safe implantation, while the rough surface at the contact area to the endplates ensure high primary stability. - Clear Evaluation of Surgical Outcome
Titanium interferes much less with MRI compared to other metals (e.g. stainless steel or tantalum). Together with the high porosity (Type-specific up to 80 %), this massively reduces artefacts leading to clear medical imaging. - Various Implant Sizes Available
Thanks to the comprehensive portfolio, Hygro- Cages are suitable for many different indications. This enables the best possible coverage of the intervertebral disc space. - Well Thought-Out Instruments
The goal of the instrument and set design is a simple, fast and safe surgery. The instruments comprise shavers, curettes and rongeurs, and are designed in anatomic shapes and sizes allowing a simplified procedure. - Safety by Experience
Hygro-Cages have been used in more than 10’000 surgeries in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom.
*Double Cage technique for revision surgery Two cages for an optimal fit. Two smaller cages are implanted for ALIF surgery above L5 to prevent vascular injuries.
