Z-Pedicle Screws

May 27, 2023 By SPINEMarketGroup

The MIS Z-Pedicle Screw System and the pre-sterilized implants offer surgeons an ideal solution for their indication specific needs (non-cervical spine). The innovative screw design with only one instrument set enable them to efficiently and cost effectively address the most common pathologies. It was designed for a minimally-invasive approach for less tissue disruption, blood loss and trauma and is approved for Degenerative, Trauma, Tumor and Deformity application. It offers an optimal intraoperative control, reduces surgical steps and allows smaller incisions for a better cosmetic result.

Features:

  • The cannulated and fenestrated MIS Z-Pedicle Screws are color coded and available in different diameter, length and axialities: Monoaxial, Polyaxial, Quattroaxial for fractures and Quattroaxial trans. for scoliosis application. The quattroaxial trans. screw is a uniplanar screw with an additional degree of freedom in the other planes that facilitates the rod insertion and minimizes undesired tension. It has the mobility of a polyaxial screw in the cranio-caudal direction and of a monoaxial screw in the medial-lateral direction. In combination with the polyaxial screw it is used especially for deformity treatment offering the surgeon the possibility for derotation of the vertebrae. The patented screw design is the next generation of pre-fixation screws with a 2-3 times higher angular stability vs. polyaxial screws to avoid sliding of screw head. The screw head position will be finally fixed through the rod.
  • The Z-Pedicle Screws are self-drilling and self-tapping due to its unique tip and thread design. A multi-conical double thread design increases stability in the pedicle and offers ease of Insertion.Z-Medical implants stand for precision, are sterile packaged and ready for surgery.
  • The MIS Z-Pedicle Screws with lengthening shaft in combination with the patented SnapOff-Technique provide a rigid connection between the shaft and the implant and offer the possibility of a direct manipulation without any additional instruments.
  • Surgical correction of spondylolisthesis, reposition in fracture- and the derotation in scoliosis treatments are achieved directly the innovative screw design and the long reduction thread with the pre-assembled set-screw.
  • Controlled cement augmentation is possible if required with the bone cement filler cannula directly through the screwdriver.

About Spinal Deformity

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that can occur in any age group. Scoliosis is a coronal plane (i.e. side to side) deformity occurring in children, adolescents, and adults. Symptoms vary with age of onset and severity of the curvature; cosmetic problems including sitting imbalance, breathing difficulty or delayed development is common findings in infants and young children. A rib hump, pelvic or shoulder height imbalance tend to common in the adolescent group. Intractable back pain, sciatica, leg weakness or numbness and gait difficulty are common reasons for surgical correction in adults.

Kyphosis is seen when a person’s spinal balance has moved too far forward to allow the spine to effectively carry the body weight without progressive deformity, pain or neurologic loss of function. Patients typically walk in a forward flexed posture being unable to stand up straight. This condition can also occur along with scoliosis causing Kyphoscoliosis.
