(UPDATED 2023): Argentine Spine Companies to Know…!

May 13, 2023 By SPINEMarketGroup

The nature of the public health system in Argentina encourages the participation of local companies who can provide devices at a lower price as a result of improved margins compared to foreign companies, who typically pay more for education, distribution and manufacturing.

According to a report from iData Research, the total Argentinian spinal implants market is growing at a rate of 3% with an estimated market value of $93 million by 2024.Local companies collectively made up the largest share of the total spinal implants and VCF market in Argentina, with DePuy Synthes and Medtronic holding second and third position respectively.

However, many patients are treated in private hospitals and pay via private health insurance or out of pocket for the highest quality devices and treatments. The private sector is also bolstered by a growing medical tourism industry because of the lower cost and shorter wait times for many procedures. Growth is expected in many market segments, as the patient demographics and rising incomes in Mexico maintain a steady demand for such procedures. Barring unexpected major demographic change, for the next three to five decades the speed of aging in Latin America will continue on a singularly rapid course. Growth of this population is expected to stimulate growth in both fusion and non-fusion spinal implant markets. Although future growth may be cannibalized to an extent by the growing MIS markets, this is not expected to stifle projections for the near future.

Competition

In Argentina there are several companies focused on spine. Most of them also carry trauma or other specialty products. In the attached table, we show the product categories incorporated into the portfolios of the different companies.
