January 24, 2020 –The ASTRA-OCT System is a comprehensive set of implants and instruments to stabilize the spine in patients undergoing posterior cervical fusion. The system was developed to address unmet needs in complex posterior spine fixation procedures, revisions and extensions.
ASTRA-OCT includes a wide range of screw, connector and rod options for both the cervical and thoracic spine. The implants provide the flexibility required to accommodate variations in patient anatomy and surgical techniques. The ability to cross the Cervical Thoracic junction with ASTRA-OCT reduces the number of instrument trays from five to two thereby improving operating workflow while reducing hospital processing costs.
Anis Mekhail M.D. University of Illinois Hospital & Parkview Orthopaedic Group:
“In my practice I treat many complex Cervical Thoracic deformities which require a myriad of different implant options. Prior to ASTRA-OCT, operating on these patients would necessitate having both a thoracolumbar and posterior cervical system in the O.R. Trays would be everywhere and managing the case was a burden for the staff. SpineCraft has combined the necessary implants to treat the cervical and thoracic spine into one streamlined set. With ASTRA-OCT we can now depend on just 2 or 3 trays to reach across the cervical thoracic junction.
I am also pleased that SpineCraft has included cervical reduction screws with the offering. We have found that they ease rod placement and they are now a routine part of my technique”
ASTRA-OCT completes the ASTRA Platform that today extends from occiput to pelvis with solutions for open, MIS techniques and screw augmentation. Introduced in 2016, ASTRA has been widely accepted in both the US and international markets for the treatment of complex spine, revision as well as degenerative procedures.
