Spine Product Launches in 2019? At least 27 New Products…

The products launched this year 2019 until now, have clearly defined the trends of the spine market today. On the one hand, a clear advance of the expandable technology to which several companies have followed the path started by Globus Medical. On the other hand, the launch of many interbody cages manufactured with 3D titanium printing technology. In relation to companies, we can highlight Alphatec Spine and Seaspine with the launch of several products covering their portfolio product gaps.

List of 27 product launches in 2019:

1.- Solidity Vertebral Body Replacement (VBR)

2.-“Essential”, New kit for the percutaneous spinal fracture surgery

Feb. 25, 2019, SAFE ORTHOPAEDICS announced the launch of its new instrument kit “Essential”. It contained all the essential parts to perform a percutaneous surgery, in the safest conditions for patients, lowering the risks for surgeons, and saving time and costs for hospitals. 3.-BandLoc DUO

Feb. 25, 2019, OrthoPediatrics announced the launch of BandLoc DUO, the latest enhancement to the BandLoc 5.5/6.0mm System. BandLoc is a temporary implant for use in orthopedic surgery, intended to provide stabilization as a bone anchor during the development of solid bony fusion and aid in the repair of bone fractures. The system allows a pedicle-sparing, band passage technique for treating a wide variety of complex spinal pathologies, including spinal trauma, degenerative, and reconstructive surgeries such as scoliosis. 4.-HiJak AC Expandable Cervical IBFD

5.-NEST Interbody System

March. 13–15, 2019, Paonan launched and featured their new NEST Interbody System and highlighted its Paonan’s 3D printing Titanium technology at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting March. 13–15, 2019, in Las Vegas.

NEST Interbody System is a hollow, rectangular implant that consists of a unique configuration of both solid and porous structures, which are built using Paonan’s 3D printing Titanium technology. The system was designed for bone in‑growth and biological fixation. Inspired by the microstructure of cancellous bone, and enabled by Paonan’s 3D printing manufacturing process, this technology is deliberately designed for fusion. 6.- Global Biomedica Titanium Cages

March.2019, Global Biomedica launched the new range of titanium cages produced using 3D printing technology. These cages have been developed to provide the fastest fusion. There is a wide range of products for ACIF, PLIF and TLIF fusion in many sizes. All the cages are CE marked and the company has started to expand to European markets.The latest 3D printing technology DMSL (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) is used in production.
