Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) June 06, 2012
June 6, 2012 – Spinal Elements, a spine technology company, announced today its plans to launch its Lucent® Ti-Bond™ line of PEEK interbody implants with a plasma-sprayed titanium porous coating. The product launch is scheduled for August 1, 2012.
The company’s Ti-Bond coating consists of random, unconnected titanium pores, which are biomechanically adhered through a plasma vacuum spray process to the superior and inferior surfaces of its PEEK interbody implants. This results in an ideal bone-opposing surface while allowing for direct visualization of the fusion mass through the radiolucent PEEK material. Ti-Bond coating, with its strong bond, creates the ultimate marriage between PEEK and titanium. Plasma-sprayed titanium porous surface coatings have been used on orthopedic implants for over 30 years with excellent long-term clinical outcomes.
Todd Andres, CEO and co-founder of Spinal Elements, comments, “We have combined the outstanding clinical history of our Lucent PEEK implants with the excellent properties of titanium porous coatings to create the ideal environment for interbody fusion. We believe this technology will become the new standard for interbody fusions.”
Jason Blain, President and co-founder of Spinal Elements, adds, “We are excited to introduce this technology to the spinal device market. Spinal Elements has a robust product pipeline of new technologies like this that we will be introducing over the next twelve months with up to ten new products scheduled for launch.”
We encourage potential customers to contact us immediately, as anticipated demand for this unique product is expected to be very high.
