SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System

April 18, 2016 By SPINEMarketGroup

SImmetry Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Fusion System  is a minimally invasive surgical solution designed for patients with unresolved symptoms of sacroiliac (SI) Joint dysfunction that have not responded to conservative non-surgical therapies.

Physicians have many options today for dealing with SI joint dysfunction. SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion is the system that follows proven orthopedic principles to promote true intra-articular arthrodesis for optimal patient outcomes. The SImmetry System consists of a range of threaded, cannulated implants and associated instrumentation designed to transfix the sacrum and ilium and create the conditions needed for bony growth across the SI joint.

Benefits:

  • Minimally invasive access to the SI joint under fluoroscopic guidance. The SImmetry provides safe passage of instruments and implants through soft tissue.
  • Proper site preparation, including cartilage removal and decortication with the SImmetry Decorticator™, promotes true intra-articular fusion.
  • Precise bone graft placement via grafting instruments that are versatile enough accommodate a variety of bone graft materials, enabling you to mix harvested autologous bone with graft and deliver them to the prepared joint.
  • Controlled, anatomically driven implantation of the SImmetry construct is possible due to threaded implant design and over-the-wire insertion, allowing trajectories to be adapted to patient anatomy and reducing the likelihood of SI joint distraction or nerve impingement.

About Zyga

Zyga was founded in 2008 to develop a novel technology for resurfacing the facet, or zygapophyseal, joint. This idea to relieve pain while preserving motion in the facet joints became the Glyder Facet Restoration Device. In 2009, Zyga saw a new need: a minimally invasive surgery to fuse the SI joint, founded on the proven orthopedic principles of fusion spine surgeons have trusted for decades: a true SI joint arthrodesis. Today Zyga continues to refine these technologies, and is committed to compiling the clinical evidence needed to ensure that patients have access to their unique benefits. https://zyga.com

About Sacroiliac joint fusion technique

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction is responsible for 25% of lower back pain cases across the world. This is generally used to treat back or leg pain caused by SI joint dysfunction. Within the past few years, there has been resurgence in the recognition of the SI joint as a potential source of low back pain as treatment options for SI joint dysfunction have advanced.Numerous techniques exist for the surgical treatment of sacroiliac joint dysfunction. The main goal is to stabilize the joint by using implants and sometimes instrumentation.
