KB Medical is proud to announce it has received the CE Mark certificate for its AQrate™ Robotic Assistance System, indicated for precise positioning of surgical instruments and spinal implants during general spinal surgery. The System is indicated for precise positioning of surgical instruments and spinal implants during general spinal surgery. It may be used in open, minimally invasive or percutaneous procedures with or without assistance of a navigation system.
The AQrate Robotic Assistance System provides to the surgeon a tool that is positioned in space by the robotic arm. It provides user interfaces allowing a surgeon to interact with the robotic system directly from a sterile field. The tool holder integrates sensors which can measure forces and torques applied by the surgeon thus enabling to precisely guide surgical instruments. The system integrates haptic technology within the robot, providing surgeons with force feedback during steering that can help navigate through the anatomy and maintain a desired trajectory. It uses standard, already existing instruments and can be integrated into ORs with already defined surgical flows.
Helping to maintain proper delivery and positioning of tools and implants, the software uses motion tracking, segmentation, and other techniques to constrain and guide the robot’s movement. Stabilization components within the robotic arm and the base of the system guarantee accuracy and rigidity of the entire AQrate system. The product has yet to receive any U.S. regulatory approvals and for now will remain on the European continent.
