EOI Announces the 100th Implantation of FLXfit™ 3D Expandable Cage Performed by Dr. Dom Coric

June 8, 2015 By SPINEMarketGroup

OR AKIVA, Israel, June 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ –Expanding Orthopedics Inc. (EOI), a privately held medical device company focused on developing and commercializing innovative expandable devices
for spine surgery, is excited to announce that Dr. Dom Coric of Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates, has successfully implanted the 100th FLXfit™, world’s only in-situ articulating with lordosis correction cage.

Dr. Dom Coric, Chief of Neurosurgery at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) and past President of Southern Neurosurgical Society, has completed a series of successful surgeries with this unique expandable cage and says: “I have been using expandable cages for many years and have found the FLXfit™ to be a great alternative for my TLIF surgeries.” He explains: “the FLXfit™ offers an articulated, self-guided design with large, anterior type, footprint coupled with a unique expansion mechanism to restore lordosis angle and tight anatomical fit. In addition, its unique shape and anterior positioning enables ample space for pre- and post-, bone graft packing.”

Dr. Coric adds: “I like the in-situ lordotic expansion which allows for restoration of the disc height, segmental lordosis and overall sagittal balance”. Dr. Coric concludes that “I think that devices like the FLXfit™ could create a shift in the way surgeons and patients will look at fusion procedures. It’s a dramatic evolution from locking the patient’s anatomy at a given state using static spacers towards reconstructing the patient’s optimal anatomy using devices which combine large footprint support with in-situ lordosis correction “.

Ofer Bokobza, CEO of Expanding Orthopedics, says: “we are thrilled to collaborate with a world renowned surgeon as Dr. Coric and a leading spine center as CMC. Dr. Coric’s technique demonstrates the versatility of the FLXfit™ system that can be used in open or MIS technique, and through a true TLIF approach”. Ofer concludes that “We are extremely excited by the fast acceptance of the FLXfit™ in the US market, with a growing number of surgeons adopting it as their preferred IBFD.”
