Dynaforce™ Spring Coupler System

October 19, 2015 By SPINEMarketGroup

The Dynaforce™Spring Coupler System is pedicle screw based semi-rigid rod designed to be part of an adjunct to fusion construct.

The Dynaforce™ provides stabilization and controlled motion of the functional spinal unit while simultaneously sharing load with the interbody device.

The system consists of polyaxial, cannulated pedicle screws; slotted couplers; and rigid couplers. The Dynaforce allows various fixation configurations to address patients with an array of lumbar spine anatomies and pathologies.

Principles of Dynamic Stabilization

  • Decreased stiffness compared to traditional rigid stabilization
  • Increased load sharing with surrounding anatomical structures

Dynamic constructs provide less resistance to spinal loading and motion, and warrant special patient selection and intraoperative handling consideration. The Dynaforce™ rod motion allows more load transmission to the anterior column compared to a rigid fusion.

Features:

The Dynaforce Spring Coupler System is intended to combine modern rigid spinal fixation and semi-rigid topping-off option.

1. Controls motion:

  • Restrict motion and provide micro motion
  • Axial dampening effect
  • Prevention of adjacent segment degeneration

2. Load repartition

Couplers provides load-sharing that respects bone/screw and screw/rod interface (prevent screw loosening and construct breakage)

Dynamic constructs allows the adjacent segment to adapt to biomechanical changes.

Dynamic constructs allows a settlement of fusion to help maintaining the lordosis in the long-term.

Benefits:

The Dynaforce Spring Coupler System offers the following key benefits:

  • Prevention of adjacent segment degeneration
  • Reduction of implant breakage
  • Improved quality of the interbody fusion
  • Potential use as a non-fusion device

PEEK Rod System

It has been introduced as an alternative to titanium rods in pedicle screw based instrumentation

The PEEK Rod System provides spine surgeons with the latest advancements in thoracolumbar fusion fixation technologies. The PEEK Rod supports uncompromising versatility for both open and percutaneous posterior approaches. Incorporating the latest in load sharing designs, the OPEEK Rod System represents the next generation of fusion procedure solutions.

Features

Load Sharing Design

  • PEEK rod constructs shift compressive axial forces from the posterior elements to the interbody fusion site, more closely reproducing the normal loading characteristics of the lumbar spine compared to Titanium rod constructs.
  • PEEK features a lower modulus of elasticity compared to Titanium and more closely mimics the material characters of cancellous or cortical bone.
