KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — April 27, 2021 – Camber Spine, a leading innovator in spine and medical technologies, has joined forces with Building Up The Youth, a local-area non-profit organization. Camber has pledged its support of the organization and its inner city youth assistance and training programs with donations, Camber staff volunteer hours and marketing and fundraising assistance.
Camber Spine’s partnership with Building up the Youth is part of the company’s broader corporate philanthropy initiative, Camber Cares. Camber Spine believes in the importance of building a strong corporate culture around volunteering and giving back to local communities where employees live and work. As a member of the United Way’s Greater Philadelphia Corporate Volunteer Council (GPCVC), for example, Camber Spine has joined a coalition of member companies, which includes Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Comcast, Vanguard, Independence Blue Cross, and others, dedicated to increasing the collective impact of employee volunteer programs.
Located in Sicklerville, New Jersey, near Philadelphia, Building Up the Youth is a certified 501(c)3 non-profit focused on providing positive mentoring, support and guidance for at-risk, inner city youth. The programs offered by Building up the Youth are supported by donations from local businesses and philanthropists and staffed by volunteers. Activities are designed to provide local young people with safe, free and enriching experiences. The mission is to provide mentorship and guidance to children to help them develop confidence, character and determination to persevere through the challenges life brings them.
Building Up the Youth was founded by Ernest Brown, who currently serves as the organization’s executive director. Under his community-centric and charismatic stewardship, Building Up the Youth now offers a selection of weekend programs for kids, including mentoring, tutoring and homework assistance (math and reading), school principal and teacher partnerships, community service activities, life skill training, fitness training and sports skills coaching, among other opportunities – all with an emphasis on building self-esteem and exploring opportunities for future development.
“We’re very proud to support and partner with Ernest Brown and his impactful organization,” said Daniel A. Pontecorvo, Camber’s CEO. “The guidance and support that Building Up the Youth provides bolsters academic, athletic and community citizenship skills for the next generation to strengthen our community’s foundation. These are amazing kids with so much promise ahead of them, if given the right mentorship, encouragement and opportunities. It is tremendously rewarding to contribute top these efforts and we heartily encourage other businesses in the region, and around the nation, to do the same.”
“I deeply love my community and believe in the promise of our youth,” said Brown. “I’m forever grateful to the team at Camber Spine and their contributions to help Building Up the Youth rise to the next level, helping us get these wonderful kids what they need to succeed. And that is what this is all about – giving support and guidance to help more and more young people so that they flourish and grow into community contributors themselves.”
