Astura Medical Announces Commercial Launch of the Reunion Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Fusion System

Astura Medical is thrilled to announce the full commercial release of the Reunion Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Fusion System! The Reunion SI Joint Fusion System empowers surgeons with the intraoperative flexibility and versatility needed to address a variety of surgical techniques.

The Reunion Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Fusion System is a comprehensive technology platform designed for a minimally invasive lateral or posterior approach to stabilize the SI joint for fusion. The system features a comprehensive set of instrumentation and modular cannulated and fenestrated screws to address a wide variety of surgical techniques.

Key features of the Reunion system include:

  • Versatile Approaches: Supports both lateral and posterior surgical techniques.
  • Range of Screws: Available in diameters of 8, 10, 12, and 14mm, and lengths from 35-80mm.
  • Multiple Screw Head Options: Includes a modular head with a dual-lead thread or a compression-style head with a compression thread.
  • Anti-Rotation Features: Screws are equipped with automatic locking anti-rotation capabilities.
  • Mounting Options: Choose between flush mount or variable mount screw heads, tailored to the desired anchoring technique.
  • Screw Heads
    • Astura’s modular screw heads are designed to attach to the modular screws for maximum intraoperative versatility
    • Features either a Flush Mount or Variable Surface Mount screw head, depending on the desired proximal anchoring technique
    • The Variable Surface Mount screw head includes three sizing options, each accommodating specific screw sizes and features teeth below the head that secure to the bone surface for secondary fixation
    • The Flush Mount screw head features three sizing options, each accommodating specific screw sizes and featuring tapered threads for proximal fixation
    • Equipped with an integrated automatic locking anti-rotation feature to prevent screw backout
  • Instrumentation Overview
    • Protective matte finish to help reduce glare when working within the surgical site
    • Includes a depth guide that corresponds with the Steinmann pins to indicate the depth below the bone surface
    • Comprehensive offering of drills and taps, including counterbore tools used to relieve bone material for the Flush Mount Screw heads after a pilot hole is established for the screw implant
    • Features fixed and variable spacing guides to facilitate implant spacing in the patient
