Amplify Surgical®, Inc. Announces the First Surgical Case using 15-Degree Lordotic dualX® Dual Expanding Interbody Fusion Implant

April 4, 2022 By SPINEMarketGroup

IRVINE, CALIF. (PRWEB) APRIL 04, 2022–Amplify Surgical, a medical device company focused on dual expanding interbody technologies, announced the launch of the dualX T/PLIF 15-degree lordotic interbody cages. Dr. Stefan Renaud became the first spine surgeon to implant the new 15-degree lordotic dualX interbody cage, a TLIF spacer that provides additional lordosis. The minimally invasive procedure was recently performed at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in North Carolina. Dr. Renaud performed a two-level transforaminal interbody fusion (TLIF) with two of the dualX 15-degree devices.

The 15-degree lordotic implant developed for the TLIF procedure is one of the company’s latest advancements in an effort to improve sagittal plane correction with the novel dual expanding technology. The new 15-degree lordotic implant, combined with the company’s proprietary dualX® dual expanding interbody technology, provides a compact insertion footprint to accommodate a minimally-invasive approach with a large post-expansion footprint designed to improve sagittal balance restoration capabilities.

“For this TLIF procedure, my patient presented with severe stenosis at L3-4 and L4-5 and a loss of lordosis (PI-LL mismatch). For these reasons the goals of surgery were decompression, reduction of spondylolisthesis, and restoration of lordosis,” said Dr. Renaud. “A 15-degree cage that can give indirect decompression and has the power to restore lordosis is exactly what dualX offers.”

“The launch of dualX 15-degree option demonstrates our commitment to improving patient outcomes by continuing to commercialize innovative solutions that accommodate the need for increased lumbar lordosis. With the enhanced versatility of dualX implant options, we look forward to gaining a greater share in the fusion surgery market. We will continue to add more options to address the clinical need for better sagittal balance,” said Andy Choi, CEO of Amplify Surgical.

The dualX technology is comprised of a family of titanium expandable interbody devices designed to expand in both width and height, implanted in lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF), posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) spinal procedures. The dualX portfolio contains varying footprints, heights and degrees of lordosis with post-expansion bone grafting to provide the optimal anatomical fit for a clinically successful fusion environment.
