4WEB Medical’s 3D printed technology utilizes engineering principles such as structural mechanics and adjacent material reaction to produce innovative spine implants that may actively participate in the healing process.
Features:
- Unique implant surface texture reduces the chance of migration.
- Load distribution reduces stress risers and subsidence-related complications.
- Open architecture allows for up to 75% of the implant to be filled with graft material to maximize bone incorporation.
- Truss design limits imaging artifact.
- Bi-convex surface brings implant closer to adjacent bone.
About TLIF
A transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is performed to remove a portion of a disc that is the source of back or leg pain. Bone graft is used to fuse the spinal vertebrae after the disc is removed. TLIF provides fusion of the front and back of the lumbar spine. The front portion of the spine, called the anterior column, is stabilized by the interbody spacer and bone graft. The back portion, or posterior column, is locked in place with pedicle screws, rods and additional bone graft, alongside the backs of the vertebra.
The 4WEB geometry optimizes multidisciplinary engineering principles such as truss design, load transfer and adjacent material reaction to produce orthopedic implants that actively participate in the healing process. The company’s truss designs are built to provide superior strength and promote osseous incorporation, guiding bone formation through structural mechanics rather than through the use of expensive biologics.4WEB’s initial focus was on the spine implant market but it soon became clear the 4WEB truss implant technology could be used as a broad platform to develop an array of products across the entire orthopedic arena. The designs can be applied to any orthopedic procedure requiring structural support where the patient will benefit from optimal porosity and osseous incorporation. The 4WEB product portfolio offers comprehensive surgical solutions to neurosurgeons, orthopedic spine surgeons, and foot and ankle surgeons. http://4webmedical.com
