4 Corpectomy 3D Cages to Know!

February 14, 2021 By SPINEMarketGroup

The corpectomy devices are mainly used in the treatment of cancer patients and in trauma surgeries when it is required an additional structural support. In the beginning, the most used system for corpectomy were titanium meshes (Moss, Pyramesh,etc.). Advances in technology have allowed companies to segment their implants by materials (Titanium, Peek, Carbon Fiber, 3D Printed) and by type of systems (expandable, Fixed, Stand Alone). Although 3D technology is being implemented more and more in interbody fusion, however, in corpectomy implants the offer is very scarce. But, the 3D Corpectomy systems on the market are few, but of great quality. Today we are going to focus on four implants manufactured with the latest technology:

CAPRI | HAWKEYE TI | NEXXT MATRIXX | SPIRA V
1.-CAPRI Cervical 3D Expandable Corpectomy | Stryker

The Capri Cervical 3D Expandable Corpectomy Cage System provides an innovative, 3D-printed solution for stabilization of the spine in cases of vertebral body resections resulting from trauma or tumor. Capri Cervical 3D Expandable is constructed using Lamellar 3D Titanium Technology. This technology incorporates 500 um longitudinal channels throughout the implant, which in conjunction with transverse windows, create an interconnected lattice designed to allow for bony integration.

Features:

  • Continuous in-situ height adjustment
  • Continuous in-situ lordotic angulation
  • Offered in 13 x 16 mm and 14 x 18 mm footprints
  • Roughened titanium surfaces have been shown to demonstrate increased protein expression in contrast to smooth titanium surfaces
2.-Hawkeye TI | ChoiceSpine

Hawkeye TI is changing the game for cervical corpectomy cases. With its 510(k) cervical clearing, 8° lordosis, and multiple footprints corpectomy cases are now more efficient than ever. Hawkeye TI is getting surgeons and patients out of the operating room and on the road to recovery faster and more efficiently.

Features:

  • Built in lordosis: 8°
  • 14-60mm implant sizes in 2mm increments
  • Two footprint options: small (12×14) and medium (14×16) to treat various patient anatomies
  • Large center opening for packing bone graft material
  • Lateral windows for implant positioning, verification and confirmation of the fusion process over time
  • Surgeon friendly instrumentation to simplify the procedure
3.-NEXXT MATRIXX 3D Printed Porous Titanium | NEXXT SPINE

Nexxt Spine has developed a proprietary, residue free, micro-roughening process that creates a highly cohesive 7µm roughened topography. Due to the micro-roughened porous structure of the NEXXT MATRIXX® titanium, the implants exhibit up to 4X more surface area for bone apposition and potential bony integration than conventional spinal implants.

Benefits and Features:

  • Aggressive teeth for secure placement
  • Entire implant graft support
  • Complete A/P + lateral visualization
  • Footprints: 12Dx14W, 14Dx16Wmm
  • Heights: 11-50mm
  • Lordosis: 0o, 6o
4.-SPIRA™-V | Camber Spine

SPIRA™ technology incorporates an open architecture with an arched design into a device that provides:

  • “Snow-shoe effect” to decrease the risk of subsidence
  • Good visibility of bone growth on follow up films
  • Immediate stability through “mechanical fusion”

Growing fusion masses are protected by the arched design, which distributes loads across the cage and directs stressesaway from these “protected fusion zones”

The implant enables easy insertion with a smooth leading edge and a pocket that interlocks with the inserter to provide rotational stability.

Benefits:

  • Material: 3D printed titanium alloy
  • Height: 10 different heights from 15 to 33mm in 2mm increments
  • Lordotic Options:
    • 3.5°/3.5°
    • 7°/0°
  • Graft Volume: 1.2 – 3.0cc
